MOSHE FINEL, PH.D.
Group Leader
Moshe Finel received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1989 (University of Helsinki, Finland). He obtained international research experience as a post-doctoral fellow at the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Medical Research Council (LMB/MRC) in Cambridge, England (1989-1991). From 1991-2000 he served as Lecturer and Senior Scientist in the Department of Medical Chemistry, University of Helsinki. Since 2000, he has served as Group Leader in the CDR where he currently leads the Molecular and Biochemical Pharmacology Group. Dr. Finel has authored more than 70 research articles. He has reviewed a large number of manuscripts for numerous scientific journals and is currently a member of the editorial boards of European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Frontiers in Pharmacology, and Pharmacologia.
Dr. Finel’s main research interest is in drug metabolism; mainly, in various aspects of drug glucuronidation and the human UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) enzymes that catalyze the glucuronidation of xenobiotics and endobiotics.
